So I met Heiko while playing Dark Orbit and we became friends. I found out that he had started making a lot of money from playing poker. He told me that he is from Eastern Europe and growing up during the Communist era was not very pleasant. He didn’t have much money and at one point worked as a lumberjack ( cutting trees), then he learned how to fix computers, and slowly got addicted to various online multi-players games, like Dark Orbit. So for 3 years, he was making just enough to get by,pay this internet fees and was spending hours playing online games.

Then, one day he heard that some people were making money playing poker. So he went to a poker site and deposit $30. He started playing freerolls, and low stake poker, while reading poker books and watching book videos. Applying many of skills that he learned while playing online games, he amassed a nice bankroll. As of now, he is up to $64,000 from his initial deposit of $30.

This gave me the inspiration to start playing and learning online poker. I started with no deposit and was playing a lot of freerolls ( poker tournaments which are free to enter) and slowly building it up, I just made my first deposit and I am up a few thousands. So sorry that I have not updated this blog for my fellow Dark Orbit players. Come join me at some of my favorite poker rooms below.

How clans work in Dark Orbit?

If you’re think about joining a clan, you can click on “Clan” in the main admin screen on your browser.
Once there click on the Complete list or you can enter in the name of the clans. Make sure that the clan you are joining will help you achieve your goals because many clans are not organize and have few members. Also make sure to read the clans rules because each clans have their own objectives, enemies, and tax.
Remember that you will be tax by the clan, so make sure that the benefits will out weigh the cost of being a member of a clan.

I would recommend finding a clan that is active on the chat boards and whose goals are the same as yours otherwise you will waste credits because you will end up leaving the clan.

I hope this article helps.

Dark Orbit works on a first come first serve basis. If you spot an alien or another player and their name is in red and the credit is red, then this unit is free to fire upon. If you see the name and circle in white that means another player has targeted that unit and if you commence attack on that unit you will not get the points and resources.

This happens to new players all the time before they realized how the system works. If a player is attacking a unit and gets kill, wait a moment until that unit’s name turns red, which means this unit is free to attack.

Another side tip to this is to look at the name of the alien unit, sometime the “boss” looks just like the regular alien, but will pack a lot more hit points and damage per shoot. I have lost a lot of ammo by not looking, just to realized that the alien that would normally take 20 shoots to kill has not die even after 30 shots.

One way to stay safe is to “drag” the aliens closer to the portal. During the initial attack the alien will be on the offensive and will “follow” or “chase” you, so this will when you can lead the alien closer to the portal. The reason why you would want to do this is that enemy players will often wait till you have exhausted your shield trying to kill an alien to attack you. So if you are closer to the portal, this will help you get to the safe zone faster.

And finally, make sure to set one setting to attack by loading it with lasers and one setting to speed by loading it with engines. You will figure this out once you start playing the game.

So you will end up starting on a new server with a Phoenix ship, 20,000 credits, and 2000 Uridium. I know someone who started playing this while they were on vacation and picked a server in Europe. Well, when he back home he found out that he could not transfer this account to the American servers.

Each month there is something that is call Jackpot Battle. You can sign up for it in the game. Here’s what the Dark Orbit team wrote about it.

“Jackpot

The money ( Jackpot GBP / Jackpot Dollars ) which can be collected on the map goes into your private so-called “jackpot”.

Each month there is a playoff for the jackpot. You can register for it in the game when the appropriate layer is displayed. You will be asked to provide certain information - please provide all the information requested, since it makes the payment process easier in case you win.

On the day of the Jackpot Battle, all those who registered come together on the Jackpot map and fight against each other. Normally the battle lasts from 2pm until 10pm. The last one left on the star map receives a payout of his Jackpot. If more than 1 player is left at 10pm, the winner will be chosen by lot.

Basically they are asking you to join in on an alien hunt. The alien, Cubicon, is where the term comes from. this computer generated alien is one tough kill and would normally need about four middle to advance level players to kill it. Anyone who ends up shooting at it will be apart of the kill and be reward with uri, credits, experience and honor points. You will get some too if you shoot the Protegits, which are release by the cube to attack you since the cube does not . In order to join in on the kill and access this map you need to be a level 11 minimum.

Play it safe with the cube, some people have try to tackle this on their own and ended up regretting it. The cube releases about 30 Protegits and each Protegits does about 1,000 HP in damage per shoot. Unless, you have a big boy, come with your fellow clan members or friends. Otherwise you will be playing a lot for a new ship or repair cost.

Defcom ship, what strategy to use
Don’t enrage players will bigger and stronger ships. Stick to hunting aliens and quest, and save up for a ship upgrade. Once you get a bigger ship than you can kick some butt.

Dishonesty
Other players, even on your own team may try to attack for the fun of it. They will point fingers and accuse you of doing something wrong, so becareful and trust no one, just like in real life.

Speak German anyone
Some players are complaining that Dark Orbit shows messages in German instead of English. If this is the case make sure to send a email to support with your user ID which is a 5-8 digit number found on the gold bar of your homepage.

Never mind the mines for NPC
I just found out that mines do not work on NPC, so do waste your time and credit like I did

Buying uri- Costs
Assuming no banking multipliers are in effect, here’s the amounts…
$4.99 for 4500 uri

Package deal
$99.99 for 330,000 uri

Pricing for US side and assumes no special or multiplier

Quests completed, huh?
If your screen in Dark Orbit display that you have finished quests that you have not even start then the best thing to do is email support. This is happening to a handful of people.

That’s all for today forks. Thanks for reading!
